About Fabio

Fabio Bongianni was born in 1961, a Roman of Romans. Exceptionally well-traveled, Rome still remains Fabio's home.

Before finishing law school Fabio realized his true passion is cooking. He attended Ritz Escoffier in Paris, and afterward created and managed the most successful line of American-style steak houses in Rome—in fact, the first in Italy.

Then, in 2004, Fabio opened That's Amore restaurant in the center of Rome near the Trevi fountain. Returning to his first love, cooking, he transformed his property in the medieval town of Mazzano Romano into a cooking school. Now the class is offered in six spectacular and unique venues, including pizza-making courses in the restaurant. The goal: to give his clients an exceptional hands-on experience learning to cook in historic Rome. He has combined both his passions, cooking and teaching, to offer an unforgettable day.

His school has had great success for many reasons including the way he and his team of chefs teach Italian cuisine, leading students on a true culinary journey through the real Rome. Under Fabio's direction, the English-speaking native Italians are professional, engaging, and authentic. Students feel like friends, not just tourists.

In addition, Fabio offers the only Rome Food Tour led by real chefs and exclusive private dining events in breathtaking spaces.

Fabio has taught cooking courses in both the USA and throughout Europe and has been featured in print media and on cooking and lifestyle television channels and news programs around the globe. Architectural and style magazines have highlighted his Tiberina Island cooking venue for its exceptional design. Fabio is sponsored by ArcLinea Italian Kitchen Designs and other quality brands, and he is a spokesperson for We Love Pasta® pasta-making tools, a division of Eppicotispai Group, sold globally by Williams-Sonoma and Sur la Table.
